“Mac rules and PCs suck!” When I joined Hemels in the Nineties I’d led a relatively sheltered life when it came to computers. DOS, Word Perfect and later Windows and Word ruled my little computer world so it was a rude awakening to learn how Mac-minded and fervently anti-PC the publishing environment was.

I get the impression that as online possibilities and services increase, personal service is decreasing, or and even disappearing altogether. Let me illustrate with a few of my most recent online frustrations.

Internet is a wonderful thing. Who would ever have thought that this network would blossom to become the world’s largest media platform?

How on earth did we do it? Live without the Internet, that is. I cannot imagine it any more, despite being of a generation that once managed to get though a whole working day without e-mail.
